La historia cuenta que en esta bella isla, a 45 min. de lento viaje desde Salvador, fue el punto de "engorde" para los esclavos que llegaban en cruel viaje, hacinados en los barcos de viles comerciantes de vidas. Quienes aguantaban el cruce del Atlantico eran acicalados y cebados para su próxima venta en Salvador.
Inicios oscuros para un lugar de naturaleza iluminada. Sus playas son hermosas, calmas... ya demasiado. Fueron dos noches aquí. El cruce desde el continente costó solo tres reales, el hospedaje fue menos amable con el bolsillo 30 reales con regateo, pero bueno, frente al mar y habitación bastante buena, tanto que hasta los zancudos la preferían... La posada de Charlie, un argentino buena onda con mas de 15 años aquí. Amor al mar y sus cejas verdes.
Como decía, fueron días muycalmos, descanso y mar. Nos quedamos en Praia do Areia, la mejor zona de la isla para el baño y asoleo, perono para la mirada histórica. El centro de Itaparica, luego de 45 min por la playa, aparece majestuoso. Casas antiguas muy bien conservadas, pequeñas iglesias y plazoletas... se continua el camino y aparecen casas de lujo, clubs de yates y condominios. Años atrás, Itaparica fue todo un boom turístico, ya no. Toda la movida turística parace haber mudado su ruta hacia Morro de Sao Paulo, isla a un par de horas más de camino. Allí esta la juerga, en Itaparica quedo la tranquilidad. Lo que no cuadra es qu elos precios sigan al famtasma de antaño... y ano es el point pero a los precios de restaurantes y hoteles parace no importarle, todo caro..., y bueno, para el que busca relax, es buen lugar, a pagar.
De Itaparica regresamos a Salvador, horas de buses de ciudad (bastante vueltas, bastante grande la ciudad también) llegamos a Stell Maris, zona de playa bastante adinerada. Acá nos esperaban sandra y Vivian. Con ellas, amables anfitrionas y mejores amigas, recorrimos buena parte de la ciudad.
